FIRST DAY

Today was our first day with the residents. This was our very first group, so of course we had to take a picture of us all together.  Martin and I went and picked up three residents this morning that live in the house called, "Suzanne House."  Because of the language barrier, we arrive at their house, and announce to the house mother's, "activity" to which the house mother's begin to get the residents ready for us to take. Today was pretty chilly, so Martin and I opted to take them down to the gymnasium.

If you are wondering, it's easier to call the people we care for as "residents," because they vary in age.  Some are actual children, others can be older than myself.  So I refer to them all as "residents" which makes it easier.

We played basketball with them today, they squealed with happiness (I think) to be doing something outside of their home.  We spent an hour with these residents from Suzanne House, and then returned them to their home. We then take another group of residents from the same house, and spend an hour with them as well.  Then we take a lunch break.  After lunch we went to the Linda House and picked up two residents for an hour, and then returned them for two more.  The second group were in wheelchairs, so Martin and I took them back to the gym where they can toss bochi balls onto the floor.

On our way back to the Linda House with our wheelchair residents, Martin and I had to push them up a steep hill.  The gal I was pushing giggled and giggled watching Martin huff and puff as he pushed his resident up the hill! it was very funny!
