FUSION MUSIC CONCERT

There was a music concert for the residents in the Chapel a few days ago.  They called it a "fusion concert," which means they played traditional Korean instruments and sang current Korean songs...or at least that was the idea.

There was one problem...when the musicians asked for a popular cartoon song, they didn't get the answer they were looking for.  Instead, they had residents yelling out cartoon songs that were pretty old.  The reason being....most of the residents that can speak and understand are quite a bit older than the musicians expected!

Needless to say, the musicians found a way to bridge the age gap and continued with their concert.  It must have worked, because a lot of residents sang along.
The instruments from left to right are:

Daejaeng (대쟁 ) - is a 15-string instrument. It is played by the left hand pressing strings and the right hand plucking or plunking them.

Piri (피 리 ) - is a wood instrument made of bamboo pipe and a thin-cut bamboo piece through which air is blown.

Haegeum (해금 ) - A vertical fiddle with two strings. To play the haegeum, a bow is inserted between the two strings which are rubbed. This instrument allows a rich expression that enable diverse playing techniques.
