<--- This woman is very special! She knows, "Hello" and "How are you?" in English. She's 54-years-old, and serves as a secondary mother to the others in Barbara House. And when you return her to her home, she always says, "Thank-you" in English as well. She can walk a little, but her legs are weak. And she has other developmental delays.
I'm not sure how old this woman is, but she's a sweetie as well. She acknowledges when you talk to her, and she's quick with a smile. She has a crooked little body and probably only weighs about 50 lbs. (soaking wet).
We see this gal out by herself sometimes. And she will often go and pick-up her younger house sisters at school, and walk them home. She doesn't speak well or much, but is a happy soul.
This young lady with Martin is non-verbal. She sits and watches things, and can focus on things (like cookies!). She has a hard time feeding herself, so Martin broke up the cookies and fed them to her. She has beautiful thick Korean hair! and will occasionally give a smile.
On our way back to their house, I was walking beside Martin and his resident. When suddenly, my resident started speaking to the gal Martin had. So I pulled the wheelchair closer to Martin, and she began to comfort Martin's resident. She took her hand, rubbed it, and then kissed her hand. It was such a tender moment betwen them. So I asked Amanda to quickly snap some pictures.
This is truly how the residents are with each other. Very caring about one another. Very much a family unit in each of the houses. I love moments like these, and I didn't want to forget this one!
