ADOPTION DAY

Tuesday, May 11th was Adoption Day here in Korea. It's a very important celebration here.  Not only does it celebrate international adoptions, but it's bringing awareness to Korean culture that domestic adoptions can and should be done. In Korea, the bloodline is still very important.  Adoptions are done secretly, and parents will literally choose children with the same blood type, so they never have to tell their child they're adopted.

And of course on our way into the Grand Hilton Hotel, we ran into foster mother's with their babies!

And of course all the "important people" had to be introduced one at a time and brought into their seats.
This man (the short older gentleman with silver hair) is a long time Korean movie star - he's kind of like the Robert Redford of Korea. His entire career in Korean movies, he always played the good guy - the likeable character.

All of the Korean press were there...

And in came the celebrities!  The man on the left with the curly hair is a popular comic/actor.  Next to him in the black glasses is another famous actor.  And the woman and the man in the blue jacket are a couple, and both are famous t.v. stars on popular shows here in Korea.

Then it was award time....

And then the entertainment began...with a K-pop (Korean Pop) girl group called 2NEI1 (2-Any-1).  This brought screams, and all the kids to the front of the banquet room...
